Hello! I am Jose. I recently obtained my Physics PhD from the University of Michigan. I am a theorist, my research is in the field of soft matter and the concept of “physical networks”. I am looking to share what I have learned along with my special insights and love for physics. My goal is to help you think like a physicist. I am fluent in English and Spanish.

I have some experience teaching, tutoring and mentoring college students. During grad school I was a lab instructor and teacher’s assistant for introductory college physics. I held both in person and online office hours. As an instructor I introduced students to basic physics concepts and helped them through the corresponding experiments which sometimes included coding. I was also required to work in the university’s help room where we offered tutoring to any student that walked in. As a teaching assistant for introductory physics I held formal office hours where I helped students understand the material and with their homework. This was done online. In helping students I first try to find out what is their thought process. This means I always lead with questions. Once I know where the student is I meet them there and guide them to the correct solution. If you have a specific tutoring style in mind please let me know what you need. I am flexible. I also was research mentor for undergrads and junior members of my research team.
