I am in my fifth year of a bachelor's degree in Biology with a concentration in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Puerto Rico at Aguadilla. I tutor biology, biochemistry, neuroscience and genetics, and I also tutor Spanish. I am in my fifth year of a bachelor's degree in Biology with a concentration in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Puerto Rico at Aguadilla. I tutor biology, biochemistry, neuroscience and genetics, and I also tutor Spanish. I work comfortably in both Spanish and English, so students can switch between the two whenever it helps them understand something faster.

My tutoring started in August 2024 through MSEIP-SOLARIS, a program where I was assigned one mentee, a freshman around 18 years old, and worked with him until May 2025. We met one on one almost every day and I covered all of his courses with him, including biology, chemistry, Spanish and English. From August 2025 to May 2026 I led a group of three sophomore students in a neuroscience research lab alongside my professor, where I was responsible for teaching them the concepts and techniques behind the project. Since September 2026 I have been mentoring two twelfth grade students in their own research projects while also guiding them through the transition into college, and I will continue with them through May 2027.

When I sit down with a student, the first thing I do is find out exactly where they are. I ask what topic they are on, what they already understand about it, and then I have them give me an example of everything they know. That tells me quickly where the real gap is instead of where I assume it is. From there I build the explanation around what they already have, and I keep bringing them back to the material through active recall so they are the ones producing the answer rather than watching me produce it. Working almost daily with one student for a year taught me that this is what makes the difference. Students remember what they had to pull out of their own head.

Approved Subjects

Anatomy

Anatomy

I'm a final-year student in the Biology program at UPR Aguadilla, where anatomy and physiology have been central to my coursework. I'm comfortable across body systems, from skeletal and muscular organization to cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, and neuroanatomy, including the directional and sectional terminology students usually stumble on first. I've mentored college and high school students through science coursework since 2024, which taught me where people actually get stuck. My sessions focus on building a mental picture of how structures connect rather than memorizing lists.
Biochemistry

Biochemistry

I'm finishing a biomedical biology degree at UPR Aguadilla and currently work on research involving compound formulation, so biochemistry is something I use rather than just study. I cover glycolysis and the citric acid cycle, oxidative phosphorylation, enzyme kinetics, hemoglobin and protein structure, plus DNA replication, transcription, translation, and gene regulation. I've led small groups of students in a research lab setting and mentored individuals through their classes. I try to connect each pathway to why the cell bothers doing it, since that makes the steps stick better than flashcards do. Also, my main research focuses on Biochemical processes, which helps me be up to date with Biochemistry.
Biology

Biology

I'm a final-year student in the Biology in Biomedical Sciences program at the Universidad de Puerto Rico en Aguadilla, so biology is what I live in every day. I'm solid across the range a general biology course covers: cell structure, genetics and inheritance, DNA and protein synthesis, mitosis and meiosis, evolution and classification, ecology, and human body systems. Alongside coursework I run my own research project and have supervised small groups of students in a lab, including two high school students I currently mentor through their research. I explain things in plain language and work through problems with students instead of just giving them the answer, since
Spanish

Spanish

Spanish is my first language. I grew up in Puerto Rico and have used it every day of my life, in school, at home, and in my university coursework at UPR Aguadilla. I'm fully bilingual, which helps when a student needs something explained by comparing it to how English handles the same thing, whether that's subjunctive mood, ser versus estar, or preterite against imperfect. I've tutored and mentored students since 2024, so I'm used to adjusting between someone starting from zero and someone who just needs their writing and conversation cleaned up.
