My name is Muna I., and I am a graduate from Johns Hopkins University. During my undergraduate studies, I pursued a Biomedical Engineering major, as well as minors in Computer Science and Computational Medicine. My name is Muna I., and I am a graduate from Johns Hopkins University. During my undergraduate studies, I pursued a Biomedical Engineering major, as well as minors in Computer Science and Computational Medicine. Due to my areas of study, I have an extensive background in mathematics, science, computer science and other STEM-related topics. In addition to these skills, I also have a lot of experience regarding pre-collegiate standardized testing and course preparation, especially as it pertains to the application to highly competitive institutions, such as Johns Hopkins.

I have been tutoring students of varying ages since my junior year of high school. In high school, I tutored middle-school students in Spanish, Math and Science. In my second year of college, I began my job as a computer science instructor via Juni Learning, where I teach children (between the ages of 8-18) Scratch, Python, Java, and advanced programming topics (AP computer science & USACO). In my third year, I became a course/teaching assistant (TA) for a beginner Python course, and continued this job for three semesters. The last two semesters, I was a lead TA. In my final semester, I became a lead TA for a beginner MATLAB course.

Through all my years of tutoring, I have learned that one approach that works well for most students, in terms of building a good knowledge base and confidence in their skills, is a hands-on approach. After going over the basics, I believe "practice makes almost perfect," and it is always best for students to apply what they've learned. True learning does not come from memorizing a singular problem-answer pair, but from being able to draw relations between what you've learned and a new problem you must solve. I truly do love and enjoy teaching, as I have seen the benefits of good teaching during my time as a learner. It is easy to become discouraged when pursuing knowledge, but having good learning and studying skills, as well as motivation to practice and become better, is what makes a great student!
