My specialities in NCLEX include content specific modules (prioritization, critical thinking, content), test taking strategies, confidence-building, and test anxiety management. My specialties in general nursing include drug calculations, EKG interpretation (to include 12 leads), and pharmacology. With FNPs, I teach all content including pharmacology, test strategies, study skills, and mood management.
I have an MS in nursing from Penn State and an MEd with a minor in Adult and Distance Education. I also have an MS in Anesthesia from LaRoche College. While I was in nursing school I taught CPR, EMTs and Paramedics for the PA Dept of Health. After being an ICU nurse for 5 years, I got into anesthesia school. During 14 years of being a CRNA I taught all of the SRNAs, usually 4 a semester. Nearly all of my students were college level or adult learners. I tutored for Varsity Tutors for 2 years-teaching NCLEX and NEXGEN. Then I worked for myself for 4 years working mostly on NEXGEN.
My teaching style is varied. I adapt it to the student. Some like explaining, some like questions, some just need to get confidence. I do them all. I teach each student as an individual and foster diversity and inclusion. You will always get my authentic self. I like to help people reach their goals and I really enjoy teaching.
