Hello! Don't be put off by my degrees and experience - I am retired from a large technical college where I taught a materials science/metallurgy course I designed as well as topics in additive manufacturing, electronics and plastics. Friends of mine call me "Dr. Wizard" as a result. I love to make learning fun and rewarding - not drudgery.
Over the course of my career I developed a unique implantable cardiac pacemaker that was successfully used in human cardiology, several National Science Foundation grants in Nanotechnology, multiple regional television programs on science and technology, and a lot more projects and problem solving experiences.
My undergraduate degree is in Computer Science. To that I add a Masters in Mineral Engineering/Operations Research, and PhD in Mineral Engineering/Systems Engineering. I am an amateur radio operator (Amateur Extra class) as well as hold a First Class Radiotelephone license (commercial media engineering). While most of my career has been in classroom teaching, I also worked with students one-on-one both for remedial as well as supplemental help.
I bring a positive, can do attitude to my role as a tutor, seeking to understand what first needs to be learned and how best to explain and teach it to mastery.
