Bio

I have been teaching elementary and middle school for the past 20 years, and I have taught martial arts for 10 years as well. I have taught all subjects from kindergarten to 8th grade math! I went to Penn State University for my K-6 teaching degree, and Lehigh University for my Master's in Educational Leadership. I am also a second degree black belt, and I love teaching and making learning fun and engaging!

For the past 12 years I have been teaching middle school math, where I worked with students on topics like using operations with decimals/fractions, algebra, ratios, geometry, measurement, and data & statistics. I can help your student develop strong study habits, get better grades, and also make real world connections to the topics being taught!

I have a degree in Elementary Education, as well as my certification in Mid Level Mathematics - 7th to 9th grade. I make math fun and interesting because I try to connect the lessons I teach to the real world. I find out what my students are interested in and use that to guide my instruction. I enjoy showing students who find math confusing or stressful that it can be done!

I have been a taking karate for 15 years, and I am a second degree black belt. Our school had a mix of styles, ranging from Tae Kwon Do, Shorin Ryu, Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Jiu Jitsu, and Boxing. Once I earned my black belt I taught twice a week for about 8 years. I have been using common core at my current job, as well as for charter schools I used to work at. I plan my lessons using a "backwards planning" style where we look at the objectives laid out by the common core curriculum. I have used common core in all grades ranging from kindergarten to 8th grade.

Engaging high energetic tutor.

Ross made the lesson fun and fast for my daughter. Just the right personality to make this hour of pre algebra fun. He had way more personality than most math tutors, my daughter didn’t realize how fast the lesson went. We are excited for the next lesson.
