Hello, my name is Robert! I obtained a bachelor's degree in physics and a minor in mathematics from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2019. I was a dean’s list recipient for four semesters and was awarded the William and Audrey Madia Scholarship in 2017 - 2018 as well as the Daniel G. Reiber Scholarship in 2018 – 2019. Additionally, I worked as an undergraduate lab assistant for two years in nano fabrication and analysis. During my studies, I was personally selected by faculty to be my department's undergraduate physics tutor.
In the two years that I held this position, I tutored both physics and non-physics majors alike. These tutoring sessions were in person by appointment or walk-in and covered topics such as classical mechanics, wave motion, thermodynamics, electromagnetism, and optics. Outside of university, I would also privately tutor grades 9 through 12 in algebra and pre-calculus topics. Some of these young adults were also neurodivergent and required special attention and teaching methods.
During my time as a student and tutor, I discovered that even the most complex problems were made substantially easier to understand when their underlying basic principles were clearly defined and understood. This observation taught me that mastery of anything is just a matter of perfecting the basics. As an educator, I strive to not only illuminate the basics, but provide broader context to STEM problems with respect to fundamental principles. This is what I strived to understand as a student and what I believe sets me apart from other tutors. I am an engaging, enthusiastic educator who will always put in the extra work to help a student in need.
