Hello!

Writing is a scary process for many, but with the right kind of care, compassion, and empathy, it can be a fascinating, interesting, and fun. I have experience tutoring early grades students via Skype/telecommuting and have aided many of my peers in their personal and professional writing in university and through work. I absolutely love being able to aid those in their writing journey because, unlike many other subjects, writing allows for a deeper, more engaging connection. It gives the writer and the teacher an opportunity to learn from each other in a creative yet structured and meaningful way.

As an empathetic, compassionate creative writer, I tackle challenges in writing with a unique and creative way. I will not expect or put pressure on a student; rather, I will encourage them to challenge their preconceived notions about writing with engaging questions and exercises to enhance their writing abilities. I have been the Editor-in-Chief of our university school paper, secretary of our literary magazine, and have multiple creative writing pieces awarded/published, including a 2013 National Silver Medal from Scholastic for my novella. I have also received the Best Seminar Paper award for my academic research paper on the rhetoric of Major Depressive Disorder and am a co-author of a linguistics research paper on gesture that was presented at Teachers College, Columbia, NYC in 2018.

I look forward to hearing from you and would love to work on enhancing your writing skills, whether that be in your academic or creative work. Whatever your needs are--developing your writing skills/process/approach, improving your grammar/vocabulary--I am here to help. Please contact me for more details and we can set up a time to chat!

Approved Subjects

English

English

A summa cum laude graduate of West Chester University, PA, I have a BA in English-Writings as well as minors in creative writing and linguistics. While in school I served as Editor-in-Chief of our school paper, Secretary of our literary magazine, and published numerous articles, poetry, and short stories. I received the 2013 National Silver Medal from Scholastic for my novella, have poetry published in a local PA bookstore, am a co-author of a linguistics research paper that was presented at the Teachers College, Columbia in 2018, and served as a proofreading intern at Worldwide Clinical Trials. I am currently working in medical publications as a project coordinator and as-needed editorial assistant.
Grammar

Grammar

As an English major and linguistics minor, I have taken several classes focusing on syntax, grammar, and structure of standard American English, as well as how our language borrows and also differs from other languages when it comes to form. I received a perfect score in my introduction to linguistics course, which required us to know and understand each of the different types of words/phonemes/roots in our standard language. Additionally, I served as an online tutor for a 6th grader who struggled with grammar and punctuation, and her improvement in class was noted by her teacher and parents.
Proofreading

Proofreading

Starting as a copy writer, I quickly made my way up as a section editor and eventually Editor-in-Chief of my university's school newspaper. There I was heavily invested in editing, proofreading, and applying the AP style guide to our articles, looking for the smallest of mistakes and corrections to be made in grammar, syntax, and layout. Additionally, I was secretary of our literary magazine, which required proofreading/editing and critique, and was a proofreading intern for World Wide Clinical Trials in 2017.
Reading

Reading

My reading skills have always been strong, but they strengthened during my time in university where I gained analytical and critiquing skills. My passion for rhetoric continued and I excelled in all my classes, receiving the Summa Cum Laude title upon graduating. My reading skills transferred into my professional experiences, such as being a proofreading intern at Worldwide Clinical Trials, a tutor for a 6th grader, a project manager and part-time editorial assistant at Synchrony Medical Communications, and Editor-in-Chief of my university's school paper.
