I’m Nolan! I am a third year student as West Chester University, where I’m studying English Education. My focus is in literature for grades 7-12. I also serve as the secretary for the National Council of English Teachers and am a member of the Honors College. I have no tutoring experience, but I have two semesters of in-class observations completed and plan to do a third this fall (2022).
I believe in student centered education both in and out of the classroom, which means I prioritize the wellbeing of my students and help them create and achieve goals that will do more than just earn them a good grade on a test. A core belief of mine is in learning over memorizing, and my goal as a tutor is to help students find new ways to navigate their education in a way that is fitting and beneficial to them. I want to be a teacher because of how many teachers have changed my life for the better, and I hope I can do that for even just one student.
I have taken numerous writing intensive literature classes during my time so far at West Chester University, and have done exceedingly well in all of them (entering my junior year with a GPA of 3.8). I have a lifelong love for reading and writing, and feel very comfortable assisting students in these selected topics.
I understand I’m not an overqualified teacher with years of experience. But I am a passionate and hard-working student looking to begin a future of education with you or someone you know, and I encourage you to consider me for your tutoring needs.
