Wherever you want to go in life, writing can help you get there. Why don't you let me give you a hand? And let's have fun while we're at it!

Nothing makes me happier than seeing people reach their full potential. I am a seasoned educator with over twenty years' experience teaching at the college level. I have taught college composition, literature, creative writing, and literary theory. I have extensive experience conferencing one-on-one with writers, and I have critiqued and graded thousands of student essays. However, I am not limited to helping students with their English classes. The writing process has different stages, and I can help you with all of them, regardless of the topic. Need help discovering your main points? Need help finding sources? Need help organizing your ideas? Need help polishing up your sentences? Need help learning to correct those grammar issues that trip you up? Need someone to proofread your work? I can do all that and more.

I have four degrees in English: my Ph.D. in Creative Writing and Literature is from Texas Tech University; my M.F.A. in Poetry is from the University of Illinois; my M.A. in English with a Creative Writing specialization is from Ohio University, and my B.A. in Writing is from the University of Pittsburgh, Bradford. I received full-ride scholarships to Illinois and Ohio. Texas Tech did not award full scholarships, but I won the AT&T Chancellor's Fellowship, a paid fellowship given to only a handful of the university's top incoming graduate students. After grad school, I was a tenured professor at a small liberal arts college.

I am also a published poet. My work has been published in top-tier journals such as Image, Ninth Letter, Birmingham Poetry Review, and Tar River Poetry.

Patient, Encouraging Tutor

Richard has been great to work with! He is very patient and encouraging, and he makes sure the student feels comfortable with and understands the material. He is very open to whatever method the student finds most useful for going about getting the work done. He is also flexible with scheduling and responds promptly to messages. We have been very happy with him!
