Hi! I’m Virginia, an online-only SAT and ACT tutor (all sections) for high school students. I earned a B.S. in Mathematics from Haverford College, with minors in Data Science and Computer Science and a concentration in Scientific Computing. I also scored in the 99th percentile on the SAT (1570/1600), and I use that combination of content mastery and test strategy to help students improve efficiently and confidently.
I’ve been tutoring for about six years in one-on-one, small-group, and classroom-style settings, working with students from middle school through college. In college, I served as a peer tutor and teaching assistant for math courses (Calculus through Multivariable and Linear Algebra) and worked as a STEM coach through the Office of Academic Resources. Those roles trained me to explain concepts clearly, meet students where they are, and build a plan that actually fits their timeline and goals.
My approach is diagnostic and results-focused: I identify gaps, teach concepts in a way that “sticks,” and then drill targeted practice until the skills are automatic. I use tools like Desmos, Khan-style practice, Google Docs feedback, spaced repetition, and full practice exams to track progress and focus on the highest-impact improvements. I’m flexible—some students need structured content review, others need timing and strategy, and many need both.
All of my students thus far reach their target scores. Recent examples include going from about 1200 to 1420 across two retakes and from about 900 to 1200 to meet a music conservatory admission goal. For students who already have a strong foundation, I focus on consistency and precision; many end up scoring in the mid-to-high 1500s on the SAT. I’m also especially supportive of anxious test-takers and prioritize a calm, repeatable system so test day feels familiar.
