Hello, my name is Abby, and I am an Architecture student at the Pennsylvania State University minoring in Architecture History and Sustainability Leadership. In high school I was in the National Honor Society as well as the Spanish Honor Society. Here at Penn State, my freshman year, I was nominated for a design excellence award for academic proficiency in my courses. I have received Dean's List every semester that I have been in college, and was very high in my class in high school.
Tutoring has been something I have always been very interested in, especially growing up with younger siblings. Even currently, while I am away at school, they are constantly calling me for assistance in their classes, and I am always happy to help. A lot of my peers in my classes also come to me with tutoring help, which I am always happy to do. I have been told by many people that I tutor that I have a great way of explaining things, and that I simplify it to the point of understanding. In terms of my tutoring techniques, I like to take things one step at a time and not move onto the next thing until the student understands. It always frustrated me in school and in tutoring when my teacher would move far too fast, and it would only aid in my confusion. Taking things one step at a time and focusing on each individual element is the key, and I want to emphasize that. I am also happy to work through any examples, and write out step-by-step guides to help clarify the topic at hand.
