Hi, I'm Golnaz, and I'd love to tell you about my background and how I work with students. I'm a Finance PhD candidate at Pennsylvania State University, where my research focuses on corporate finance, real estate finance, and quantitative finance. I also hold a Master's degree from the University of Oregon and am a licensed teacher.
Over the past ten years, I have tutored hundreds of students one-on-one and in small groups, both in person and online, at Penn State, the University of Oregon, and through private engagements. My students range from undergraduates in their first economics or finance class, to MBA candidates preparing for case interviews, to graduate students working through econometrics, to professionals studying for the CFA exam.
I tutor finance, corporate finance, econometrics, statistics, microeconomics, macroeconomics, financial accounting, calculus, business, and CFA Levels I, II, and III preparation. My teaching method always begins with intuition and real-world examples before introducing the underlying mathematics. When I teach discounted cash flow valuation, we work through actual financial statements from companies that students recognize. When I teach the time value of money, I anchor the formula in a financial decision the student has personally faced. My goal is for every student to leave a session understanding why a solution works, so the knowledge transfers to the next problem.
I am patient and adapt my pace to each student. Over the years, I have helped students raise grades from a C to an A in courses such as Corporate Finance and Investments, gain admission to graduate programs at Johns Hopkins, Lehigh, and Penn State, secure positions on Wall Street, and pass the CFA Level I and Level II exams on their first attempt. Whether you are working through your first finance class, preparing for a case interview, or tackling econometrics for a thesis, I will meet you where you are and help you build from there.
