Hello, my name is Sophia! I am currently a senior at Penn State studying elementary and early childhood education. I am super passionate about my major and absolutely love working with kids! I have babysat a lot throughout high school and college, worked in day care centers, tutored, and began my student teaching experience this past semester.
I completed my pre-student teaching in a first grade classroom within Bellefonte Area School District. I had such an incredible experience with both the students and teachers. I really enjoyed thinking of outside of the box ideas to get students excited about learning. One of my roles included preparing lessons for small groups of students who need additional support or extensions from grade level content. I used this opportunity to focus on fostering a love for learning within students. I turned content into fun games, themed worksheets, and so much more! This upcoming semester, I will complete my student teaching in a third grade classroom within the same school. I am super excited to continue my teaching and fostering a love for learning within my students!
During my summers and on holiday breaks from college, I work at a Goddard School in my hometown. I have worked with all ages infants-kindergarten. I also babysit in my free time at home and here at Penn State. I have babysat for wonderful families in both the State College and Bellefonte areas. I also have tutored students in a variety of grade levels and subjects in the past. I have two younger brothers who I have always helped with homework. My youngest brother (13) and I have regular zoom calls while I am at school to study and do his homework. I can definetly say my love for teaching started with them!
This semester I am looking for tutoring opportunities with elementary school aged students. I would love to help more kids learn and be an additional support in their educational journey! Please reach out with any additional questions.
