Master's in Mechanical Engineer, Chess and Math Enthusiast

Hello! My name is Arnab and I am currently completing my Master's degree in mechanical engineering from a top 10 school in the US. I decided to explore being a Wyzant tutor as I enjoy helping students and was also looking to diversify my income streams. I have experience tutoring as a math tutor in university (informal) but as a graduate student, I am now officially a teachers assistant and have undergone formal training for teaching undergraduate mechanical engineers.

In terms of my experience in my chosen field, as a mechanical engineer, I think my experience in all the mathematics subjects and the field mechanical engineering itself is self-explanatory. Aside from this, I chose IELTS English coaching and chess. For the IELTS, I got a score of 8.0 in my first attempt and for chess, I am rated 1700 on Lichess and extremely passionate and interesting in teaching others about the fundamentals of the game.

Like I mentioned, my previous teaching experience was being a math tutor and now being a teachers assistant in undergraduate mechanical engineering classes. My approach is that I am quite empathetic and understanding, I try to really breakdown concepts and explain them thoroughly to help students understand complex concepts. The ages of the students I have taught range from 18 to 20 years old, although I would be comfortable teaching students down to high-school or even middle-school. I have been tutoring for 3 years and have been a TA for 1 year. The context of my teaching experience is a combination of running in-person labs, tutoring students in the library or online and conducting online office hours, review and questions and answers sessions.
