I am a second career teacher who has worked with students in 1st though 8th grades of all different backgrounds and needs. My profession is teaching, and I LOVE helping students of all kinds who struggle! I was a struggling student, and as such, I understand that there are many different approaches to learning, so I use various methods to help students not only learn, but understand.

My profession is teaching, and I LOVE helping students of all kinds who struggle! I was a struggling student, and as such, I understand that there are many different approaches to learning, so I use various methods to help students not only learn, but understand.

I love working with students that struggle because success means so much to them. It’s wonderful to see their eyes light up as they grasp the concepts.

English is one of the toughest languages to conquer. As my ESL students remind me constantly, every rule has a rule breaker! I have taught reading, writing, speaking and listening to all levels, and have all the materials to support each learner's needs. I have created curriculum and presented professional development to other teachers. I know how to adapt material to make it comprehensible to the student. If you need support for you child, or even yourself, I am the teacher for you.

I went back to school in my 40's so that I could finally fulfill my passion to teach. I was scared to death, unsure that I could accomplish my goals, and filled with apprehension. Through the compassion of my professors, I learned that confidence can be learned, skills can be enhanced, and all students have the ability to learn. The ways we teach must coincide with the way each student learns. I have made it a point to stay on top of trends, connect with peers and familiarize myself with each family that I tutor. I have my B.S. from W.Chester University (Elementary Education), MEd. from Grand Canyon University (ESL/TESOL) and certification from Wilson Reading Program. Teaching means always being willing to learn. I look forward to helping your child accomplish their goals and feeling good about themselves. Together we can!!

Common Core

Common Core

Common Core was used in the elementary school in which I worked. I am able to look up requirements, follow instructions and teach according to its guidelines. While my expertise is in English as a Second Language, the goals set forth by common core do not differ in their expectations than those that I taught to my new students. Expectations are always high, but teaching has to be at the level of the students.
Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

I am certified in K-6th, but have taught 1-8th for the last 12 years. In that time, I have tutored within the school many of the students who struggle with mathematical concepts. I understand that there are several ways in which math is learned, and I have used many different methods in order to make a concept comprehensible.

Knowledgeable & patient tutor

Sharon did a great job with my son! She was patient & flexible but firm. She used several methods & games. My son doesn’t usually enjoy reading but when he left Sharon he said “I like her. This was good !”
