About Anne Marie

Bio

I love all things creative! I have been an Art & Design educator, Graphic Designer and a Visual Communicator for over 12 years. My day job exists in the classroom where I teach middle and high school art and design, but I have years of experience with toddler and elementary school kiddos as well as adult workshops and one-on-one tutoring. I love all things creative! I have been an Art & Design educator, Graphic Designer and a Visual Communicator for over 12 years. My day job exists in the classroom where I teach middle and high school art and design, but I have years of experience with toddler and elementary school kiddos as well as adult workshops and one-on-one tutoring. So, I teach learners of all ages! I am continually developing new class class curriculum, and have many years of teaching: Graphic Design, Typography, Drawing & Painting, Character Design, Digital Arts, and Ceramics.

I meet my students where they are emotionally, physically, and mentally and create a safe space of calmness. A space where they can experiment with materials and ideas. By responding to what they have created, I then give them feedback to push their designs, and guide them to the next level.

I graduated from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia with a BFA in Graphic Design, and a MAT in Visual Arts. I worked at a design studio in Old City for 4 years, and continue to do freelance Graphic Design jobs. I live outside of Philadelphia, PA, and when I am not teaching I love cooking, going to the beach, working with ceramics & collages, and hanging out with my two young kids!

I have been designing with Adobe Illustrator for over 12 years - both in a Graphic Design studio, and as a freelance designer. I have expertise in using Illustrator for a variety of print projects such as, logos, brochures, flyers, books, cards, posters and more. Illustrator plays a large role in my Graphic Design classroom. I teach my AP and Honors students to use it for advanced print projects.
