I earned an Associate’s Degree in Specialized Technology for Networking and Telecommunications from Commonwealth Technical Institute, alongside certifications in ITIL 4 Foundation and Certified IT Glue Administrator. Over the past eight years, I have worked across the IT industry as a Level 1 Technical Support Specialist, Service Desk Manager, Service Delivery Manager, and currently as a Support Engineer.
In these roles, I routinely manage active server infrastructure, Active Directory domain controllers, Office 365 environments, and core network configurations.
My formal teaching background began as a Vocational Education Substitute Instructor and Tutor at Commonwealth Technical Institute, where I instructed post-secondary students in Information Technology, designed lab environments, and provided one-on-one remedial instruction. Since then, I have continued teaching working adult professionals, entry-level technicians, and students preparing for IT certifications through my training business, HoughtonTech Training LLC.
My instruction focuses heavily on high-school students, college students, and adult career-changers looking to break into IT or advance their systems administration skills.
My tutoring approach is strictly hands-on and scenario-based, steering away from textbook memorization to focus on how technology operates in live production environments. When tutoring one-on-one, I use visual whiteboard breakdowns and guided virtual lab scenarios to help students master core concepts such as DNS, DHCP, Group Policy Object processing, and hardware troubleshooting.
By breaking down complex enterprise systems into clear, digestible steps, I help students build real technical confidence and pass their certification exams.
