As a Ph.D. in U.S. History with a strong writing background, I am a seasoned, confident and passionate educator with six years of teaching and tutoring experience.

I seek to help all students succeed, having taught U.S. & European History surveys and advanced History courses alike. While teaching and tutoring, I encourage students to think critically about history, and to consider how the past impacts the present. In short, I seek to engage my students with the study of history, and to help it come alive for my students.

While I was an English minor in college, I have also taught English Comp. courses, having been specially trained in a year-long practicum to do so. In addition, I have five years of experience as a professional journalist and magazine editor. With respect to writing, then, I offer a unique skill set to help students to strengthen their writing skills, having excelled in both an academic as well a professional writing setting.

With my strong writing background, I can also help you to write exceptional college entrance essays, and to prepare for the verbal sections of your college entrance exams (both SAT & ACT).

If you're looking to excel in English/writing or History, I am the tutor for you!

Perfect tutor for my daughter

Megan continues to be the perfect SAT tutor for my daughter. She is friendly, supportive, professional, and cares not only about how my daughter is progressing with her academic preparation, but also whether or not she is gaining confidence towards the material.

I have greatly enjoyed working with your daughter. She is exceptionally bright, ambitious, and conscientious, and her dedication to and diligence in her SAT prep is impressive. Thanks for the opportunity to work with your daughter, and I look forward to our continued work on her SAT prep! Best, Megan

Outstanding Tutor!

Megan is an excellent tutor! Very professional and courteous. My daughter needed a tutor to help her prepare for the SAT. Specifically, the critical reading section. Megan was very patient as they would read through the passages together so she would have a clearer understanding of them. Megan also has an extremely strong background is US History. My daughter needed guidance on how to set up and write a paper for her AP US History class. After my daughter wrote it, Megan reviewed and helped edit it for the final draft. My daughter would not have been able to put it all together without Megan’s assistance. She was always available and able to fit us into her schedule. My daughter and I have had an exceptional experience with Megan and would highly recommend her to any future students!

Wonderful tutor, highly recommend.

Megan and I had two lessons working on a rough draft of my college essay. The lessons were really productive, Megan gave me a great help with choosing the best topic, outlining the topic, and also correcting grammatical errors. I plan on working with her again in the fall on my college applications!
