Learning is a vital part of life, and I have helped teach others throughout my life, from helping friends and family, to volunteering at educational community events, to actually working as a tutor.
My degree is in Art History, with a certificate in Historic Architecture Preservation and a minor in German. I also interned at the American Academy in Rome archive, and ran my school's bookbinding club. The most important skill when learning history is finding reliable sources and analyzing them, which I practiced thoroughly during my education and would be able to guide others in the understanding of difficult texts and the writing of related essays.
While in college, I worked as a Language Tutor/Conversation Partner at the Student Success Center, a place that provides peer tutoring. Many of my students were international exchange students, who often came in to get more comfortable with colloquial language. Directed conversation practice increased ease with slang, word choice, and overall speech. Other students sought assistance with school work, such as reading help, essay editing, or presentation practice, and a few came in for IELTS practice.
I also worked as a German, Russian, and Ukrainian language tutor. Such students usually sought explanation and practice with class topics, bringing in textbooks or homework that I used to guide lessons. Other students came in to study a language on their own time, working with me to understand a reading, look for additional language learning resources, or simply converse for practice. During my time tutoring, I saw many students, including some who met with me consistently for months or even years.
I would love to meet more students. Please feel free to reach out, and we can work together to find the best way for you to learn.
