My name is Charles, and I hold a B.S. in General Mathematics from Temple University. My passion for tutoring began unexpectedly in fourth grade, when I helped a kindergartener learn to read in a school mentoring program. That moment sparked a lifelong interest in helping others understand what once seemed confusing. I also know what it’s like to struggle—throughout middle school, I often felt left behind until a one-on-one aide explained things in a way that finally made sense. That experience showed me most students aren’t lacking ability—they just need material presented the right way.
My engaging 11th grade math teacher helped me see math as more than rules—it became a language I genuinely enjoyed. In college, while my GPA was 2.85, my classes were rigorous and taught me how to solve problems and communicate them clearly. I received a Diamond Scholarship for half my time at Temple. Courses that stand out include grad classes—Stochastic Calculus (A) and High Dimensional Probability. Others: Math Stat (B), Complex (A-)and Real Analysis series (avg. B-), Calc series (avg. B), Theoretical Linear Algebra (C), Differential Equations with Linear Algebra (C), Probability Theory series (avg. C+), Topology (A-), and Combinatorics (A-). I've led study groups, helped classmates prep for exams, and was even asked to walk through solutions in class. These experiences deepened my love for teaching.
I’ve worked informally with students from elementary through college, helping them gain clarity and confidence. For example, I helped my roommate’s brother with geometry and was later asked to tutor him professionally. I focus on how each student thinks and tailor my approach using relatable examples, visuals, and step-by-step strategies.
Tutoring is about giving others the kind of support I once needed. I joined Wyzant to offer personalized math help to anyone in need. Whether you're trying to pass a class or build long-term skills, I’ll meet you where you are—because the right explanation can make a huge difference.
