Hi, I am Kiley! I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Biology. My academic background allowed me to gain a strong understanding of cellular/molecular biology, animal form and function, ecology, microbiology, genetics, conservation biology, and general chemistry, which I enjoy using to tutor students in a clear and engaging way. Throughout my studies, I have garnered strong research and problem-solving skills, which I like to incorporate into my lessons. This allows students to think critically and be able to apply concepts to real-world examples.
With my degree in Biology, I have completed coursework in vertebrate zoology, wildlife management, ecology, and conservation biology. I have also gained hands-on experience in wildlife conservation work. I have also applied genetic concepts through research and related coursework, giving me practical experience in the field. Genetics is a fundamental and complex area of biology, and I enjoy breaking it down into clear, understandable concepts for students.
I have experience assisting peers and younger students in understanding complex biology topics. In college, I was a lab assistant/tutor for biology and chemistry lab classes. I assisted in laboratory procedures, hosted open labs, and answered student questions. During this time, I learned important teaching skills, and like to adjust my methods to help students with different learning styles. Whether they benefit from discussion, hand on examples, or a structured review.
