I'm Elise! I am a PhD candidate, specializing in Neuroscience, who loves to learn and help others to learn. I have experience tutoring students of all ages, from elementary level to college. I'm Elise! I am a PhD candidate, specializing in Neuroscience, who loves to learn and help others to learn. I have experience tutoring students of all ages, from elementary level to college. I enjoy encouraging students to reach their academic goals and help them gain confidence in their abilities. Throughout my time in college and high school, I tutored General Chemistry, Biology, Physics, elementary science (K-8), Calculus, Pre-Calculus, Algebra 1 and 2, Pre-Algebra, middle/elementary school math, and English (including grammar, proofreading, literature, writing, reading, and vocabulary).
My approach as a tutor is to have my students come prepared with questions or with concepts that they are struggling with. I encourage students and parents to send me any material or suggestions they might have prior to our tutoring session, so I can best understand what the student needs from me. I also encourage students to communicate how they learn best, so I can tailor my style of teaching to their needs. Not only have I been tutoring in math and science for the past eight years, I was also raised by a math teacher. This has allowed me to gain tips and tricks that most students do not get in the traditional classroom setting.

Kind, patient and knowledgeable tutor

Elise worked with my 7th grader on a few subjects. In Math, she patiently breaks down problems to reach him at his level of understanding. She is clear and patient in her explanations. My son can be shy and was hesitant to meet with a tutor. Elise made him feel comfortable right away. Elise has also helped him in Social Studies, Science and Communication Art's- she is knowledgeable in a wide variety of subjects. Elise has been an excellent, kind and reliable tutor.
