25+ year HS Physics Teacher would love to help you!

I am a full-time high school teacher, but I also enjoy being an actual scientist. I seek opportunities to do research during summers. I've spent summers at Cornell (1) , Princeton Plasma Physics Lab (2), Baylor (4), Penn State (1), and currently at Coe College (summer '21).

I teach Conceptual, College Prep, and AP Physics 1. Students regularly come after school to work with me one on one for extra help. I love seeing that light bulb when things finally click. Just class time is not always enough time for students to excel at physics, many need to put in the extra time. I've found that most often students with difficulty are just equation shopping instead of understanding physics concepts or they have deficiencies in math. One on one tutoring at YOUR pace can help.

I started tutoring algebra when I was in high school. While physics is my focus now, I do have a certificate to teach Mathematics 7-12. I have taught a remediation class to students that failed our state Algebra I exam. Students in my physics class always say they understand graphs, solving equations and systems better in my physics class than they did in their math classes.

My undergrad degree is in physics and my masters is in physics education. I've been a public high school teacher for 27 years. I am a reader (grader) for AP Physics 1 Exams. With so much experience in the classroom, I know and anticipate the misconceptions and stumbling points that students have and how to help them.

I always enjoy helping my own students one-on-one after school. Now with a few months of VIRTUALLY tutoring my own students under my belt, I'm anxious to try this as a side gig. Don't hesitate to contact me. I think you'll find that I am easy to work worth and we'll make lots of progress. =)
