Hi! I’m a mechanical engineer and 2024 graduate of Penn State Berks, where I earned my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics Applications. I currently work as a mechanical engineer in the area, where I regularly use mathematics, physics, and engineering problem-solving. My education and professional experience have given me a strong foundation in math, physics, and engineering, and I’m comfortable helping students from foundational math through college-level calculus, physics, statics, dynamics, and mechanics of materials.
My approach to tutoring comes from my own experience as a student and from seeing how important practice is to learning how to solve problems. I’ve found that understanding a concept is only part of the process; students also need enough repetition to recognize the type of problem they’re looking at and know how to approach it. When a student is struggling, I like to figure out whether there is a missing foundational skill, a lack of practice, or simply a different way the material needs to be explained. From there, we can focus on the right kind of practice and work through problems until the process becomes more familiar. My goal is for a student to leave a session feeling like they’ve solved one more piece of the puzzle and can handle the next similar problem more independently. I also try to reword explanations and approach problems from different angles when something doesn’t initially click. Finally, I’m straightforward about my areas of expertise and will let a student know if I’m not the right person to help with a particular topic.
