In addition to getting good grades, there are two main ways you can distinguish yourself in law school. One involves writing or contributing to articles for your school's law journal. The other is to be successful in oral arguments and making your school's moot court team. I did the latter and also served as a the law chair of the student senate.
Following law school, I continued my focus on finding the most persuasive arguments and helped first as a judicial clerk, then as an associate for a small brother/brother firm in Allentown, then when that firm split, I opened my own practice. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
