I am a recent graduate of Lafayette College, where I earned dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Government and Law with Spanish and History. Graduating summa cum laude with a GPA of 3.89, I received the Class of 1910 Award for the highest achieving history major. My academic excellence was recognized with a Fulbright Scholarship, allowing me to serve as an English Teaching Assistant (ETA) in Spain. In this role, I developed and delivered lesson plans for students aged 3-13, managing classrooms and enhancing students' understanding of English and American culture through interactive presentations.
As the Education Chair for Refugee Action, the nation’s sole student-led refugee resettlement organization, I played a key role in supporting refugee families. I coordinated educational assistance, including school enrollment for children and ESL registration for adults, and personally tutored family members while managing and training a team of tutors. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, I transitioned our operation to a digital platform, tutoring four children in ESL and all subjects five times a week via Zoom.
My diverse teaching experiences extend to different educational settings and age groups. I served as a Teaching Assistant at Somers Middle School, independently teaching 6th-grade history classes during the COVID-19 pandemic. I obtained a NYSED Level I Teaching Assistant Certificate, training me to work effectively as a teaching assistant in New York State. At Lafayette, I worked as a Writing Associate, collaborating with First Year Seminar Professors and providing guidance to freshman students on their writing assignments. Additionally, I served as a Conversation PARDner, delivering cultural orientation lessons to international students and helping them acclimate to the US educational system. These experiences have honed my ability to adapt my teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each student, ensuring their academic success.
