Hi there, my name is Katie! I have a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Washington. I have a strong background in courses required for medical school admissions - including Biology, Physiology, Psychology and Sociology, Genetics, and Biochemistry. Though I can provide some tutoring in all these areas, my passion is biological sciences at all levels, from molecular to macro-ecological.

I recently completed my Master's in Public Health while also working as a teaching assistant for a undergraduate physiology class. With my job I gained access to educational research from top U.S. public universities - I prioritize active learning, which has been demonstrated to narrow achievement gaps and push students to the top of the grade list. Given my teaching experience, my lessons are best targeted towards content seen in intro-level college science classes and AP Science classes. I have previously taken AP Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, and Statistics, and received a 5 on each.

My MCAT qualifications come from my score of 523 - 99th percentile - with perfect C/P and P/S scores. I have spent dozens of hours researching the best studying techniques. My MCAT tutoring sessions can consist of a meeting to help curate your best study schedule, built to your individual preferences and strengths, or can be reoccurring appointments to stay on top of high-yield content.

My sessions are designed to be interactive and conversation-based, allowing me to best identify areas of confusion and turn your weaknesses into strengths. I believe true comprehension of content comes not from rote memorization, but from application and identifying relationships between class topics.

Whether you're wanting regular sessions or a last-minute lesson right before a big exam, I would love to help! My priority is to be engaging and fun - I know students are lectured at enough in school. I am easy to reach and provide timely responses. Please reach out with any questions or to schedule a lesson!

MCAT

I took the MCAT in September of 2021 after only 2.5 months of studying and I was able to score in the 99th percentile. I received a 131 in B/B (the subsection med schools care about most!) and 132 in both C/P and P/S. As a tutor, I share the resources, test-taking techniques, study habits, and content knowledge that I collected while studying for my own MCAT. I aim to save my students time and money by adjusting their own techniques, habits, and resources as necessary so that they may achieve their highest MCAT potential.
