Hello, I’m Carinne! I have worked in college admissions since 2017 at UNC Chapel Hill and University of Michigan, in addition to freelance and subcontracting positions with private companies. Through editing essays, developing school lists, application prep, mock interviewing, and more, I've supported students as they’ve matriculated into universities such as Harvard, Northwestern, Cambridge (UK), Dartmouth, UNC Chapel Hill, University of Michigan, the UC's, University of Washington and more! I also have experience working with students abroad (especially in the UK)!

A little bit about my academic background... I received my Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and minor in Music from UNC Chapel Hill (out-of-state acceptance rate of <10%) in May 2020. I graduated as a Buckley Public Service Scholar and a Carolina Research Scholar. In December 2021, I received my Master's degree in Physiology from NC State.

During both my graduate and undergraduate studies, teaching was at the heart of all I pursued. I taught two undergraduate courses (BIO181: Ecology, Evolution, and Biodiversity and BIO 183: Cellular and Molecular Biology) at NC State. At UNC, I was a Teaching Assistant for Chemistry I, mentored students in research, taught music lessons to children, etc. I am very comfortable tutoring a variety of STEM courses and standardized testing (99% ACT).

  • Rate details: I try to be flexible with rescheduling/cancellations, and can often accommodate day-of changes- just message! However, I do plan for each lesson, so if you don't attend, I charge a $20 no-show rate.

I was a successful applicant to a variety of prestigious universities, matriculating at UNC Chapel Hill, out of state, with a <10% acceptance rate. I worked for the Admissions Office at UNC Chapel Hill and have since worked at the University of Michigan where I read applications for admission. I have additionally subcontracted with admissions companies and co-founded my own, where I advise students on all aspects of the college application processing (selecting schools, shaping/editing their essays, resume development, and application review) to garner the best possible chance of success. I have worked with students applying to undergraduate, master's and doctoral programs.

Carinne is a wonderful teacher. My daughter needed help with interview practice for BS DO program. She was really nervous in the beginning as she didn’t know how to practice and what to expect. She had few sessions with Carinne. Carinne walked her through the whole interview process, encouraging her, refining her interview skills. She was so confident at the interview day and she Aced it. She got into the program!! I highly recommend Carinne!! Her teaching skills are phenomenal. She listens very carefully, tries to know the student, their strengths and weaknesses and how to motivate them and guide them.
