Hi! I am Gabriella! I recently graduated with a Masters in Education concentrating in Secondary Special Education and Social Studies. In my undergrad, I focused on History and Secondary Education as well. During my studies I utilized tutors and also worked with high school students tutoring them in reading. I also have experience student teaching as well. While student teaching I worked with all high school grades in whole class settings, small group settings, and 1 on 1. My special education background allows me to break concepts down in meaningful ways that will help many students better understand the material at hand. My passion for history also helps me create meaningful and engaging lessons that many students have enjoyed.
During my lessons I also begin with a warm up reviewing either a skill or content that was recently learned, we then move into the heart of the lesson and this can range from project-based learning, reading comprehension working with many different texts, or even just discussions. To close, we review the content and skills of the day to reiterate what has been learned. Of course these lessons can be adjusted to best fit the needs of the students.
I have taken many literature courses throughout my college career. During my student teaching I co-taught in both English 9 and English 11. I worked 1 on 1 with many students to help them complete comprehension questions, write essays, and I also led small group Socratic seminars.
I am a certified teacher in 7-12 Social Studies. One of my Bachelor degrees is in History. I have taught financial literacy courses, U.S. History, and U.S. Government. During my undergraduate work I explored European History in depth and wrote my thesis on Jesuit Education.
My goal is to help you better understand the material at hand as well as strengthen your skills that are needed to succeed in the course you are taking. I am very easy to reach and flexible with my hours. I hope to hear from you soon!
