Hello, my name is William. I have an undergraduate degree in History from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from California College of the Arts in San Francisco. I have been working as a private tutor for over 12 years, helping elementary school, middle school, high school, and college students with academic writing and general organizational skills and study habits. For the past two years, I have also been tutoring students of all ages in English as a Second Language (ESL). Throughout my time tutoring, I have had the extremely rewarding experience of maintaining many individual students from middle school and high school all the way through to their college graduation.

I gained my first experience in the classroom as a Teaching Assistant for a freshman composition class while attending California College of the Arts, where I led class discussions and helped students write and revise critical essays. From 2013 to 2017, I worked for a tutoring company in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I assisted students in a range of subjects from low-level science and math to A.P. Literature and History in both one-on-one and small classroom settings. Since 2017, I have been working remotely as a freelance tutor. Though I have experience tutoring a variety of subjects, I am most comfortable with subjects in the humanities, such as literature, history, art, philosophy, and creative writing.

As for my teaching style, I always strive to create a comfortable atmosphere for students in which they can feel safe putting themselves out there and making mistakes that they can ultimately learn from. When working with me, students can expect a friendly environment in which they can feel relaxed and focus on the material at hand. I always aim to be very patient, open-minded, and generous with my time.
