Hi, I'm Brandon! I'm a 4th year medical student at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. I graduated magna cum laude from UC Irvine with a degree in Biomedical Engineering and earned a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Pathology through Pitt's MD/PhD program. I passed USMLE Step 1 on my first attempt, earned honors in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Surgery, and OB-GYN rotations, and scored >260 on Step 2 CK (March 2026).

Tutoring Experience
Before medical school, I spent 3 years tutoring high school and college students in mathematics. I now tutor medical students through Pitt's Peer Mentoring/Tutoring Program, having provided 75+ hours of individualized Step 1, Step 2 CK, and shelf exam tutoring. My students have improved their NBME practice exam scores by approximately 20 points. I received a Mentoring Certificate from the School of Medicine for my teaching.
I've also completed a fourth-year medical education elective, developed educational content, and led group learning sessions for first-year medical students. Through the American Physician Scientists Association, I've mentored prospective MD/PhD students on applications, essays, and interviews, with multiple mentees entering medical school.
Tutoring Style
My approach is personalized, supportive, and practice question-focused. We begin by reviewing your goals, practice scores, and areas for improvement, then outline a clear study plan. Using practice questions, I teach you to identify key clinical clues, connect symptoms to pathophysiology, eliminate distractors, and reason through unfamiliar scenarios. I explain both why the correct answer works and why other choices do not, adapting my explanations to your specific learning style. I also emphasize time management and strategies you can apply independently on exam day.
Whether you're preparing for Step 1, Step 2 CK, or a shelf exam, my goal is to help you build lasting understanding, sound clinical reasoning, and confidence. I'd love to work with you!
