Hi! I'm a mathematics major at Carnegie Mellon University with a 790 Math/1590 SAT score. I have strong foundations in algebra, geometry, calculus, and problem-solving. I love helping students build the same kind of confidence in math that got me there, whether it's for the SAT, a tough class, or just to make a confusing concept finally make sense. Students have praised me for my patience in going over weaker areas multiple times, my clear explanations, and willingness to go the extra mile...
Students have praised me for my patience in going over weaker areas multiple times, my clear explanations, and willingness to go the extra mile when asked for additional help, whether that be providing study materials, homework, or extra clarification.
I have prior one-on-one tutoring experience working with students in grades 8 through 11, helping them with algebra, geometry, precalculus, and SAT math prep outside of a formal classroom setting. I've found that the main challenge for students struggling in math is rooted in a gap of how the concept was first explained rather than lack of ability. So, I prioritize clear communication, explaining difficult concepts in a step-by-step way by breaking down problems into manageable chunks. I create lesson plans tailored to students' unique needs and provide handpicked problems for them to try after every lesson to help reinforce what I teach during our sessions.
My main goal is to ensure students can actually understand concepts rather than just memorize formulas, as this not only helps them tackle unexpected questions on exams, but also allows them to succeed in further math classes at college, where memorizing "plug-and-chug" formulas aren't useful and conceptual understanding is essential.
So, if you're a student who needs help with their math or SAT prep, I'd love to help. Feel free to message me if you have any questions or want to schedule a session!
