I hold a PhD in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh, along with an MA in Economic Analysis from the University of Houston and the Kyiv School of Economics, and an MA in Statistics and a BA in Mathematics from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. I taught at the University of Pittsburgh for six years and eight months, from 2016 to 2023, as a teaching assistant and instructor in economics. I lectured and ran recitation sections in game theory, microeconomics, linear algebra, and constrained optimization for undergraduates aged eighteen to twenty-two and for graduate students, in groups ranging from small sections to full lecture halls. I held weekly office hours, where most of my one-on-one teaching happened, and I have tutored privately alongside that. The university's Teaching Center recognized one of my lectures as among the best delivered by a PhD student, and I have positive feedback from students.

My approach is diagnostic rather than repetitive. Students rarely fail an entire course; they fail at a particular step, and the work is finding it. I ask the student to talk through a problem and do the solving while I listen for the moment the reasoning breaks: a misread of mixed strategies, a subgame that was never checked, a Lagrangian built on the wrong constraint. We repair that step and then test it on a fresh problem. I usually end a session by assigning two or three problems to attempt alone, so the next meeting starts from evidence rather than from an impression.

I tutor introductory, intermediate, and advanced microeconomics, game theory, and the quantitative section of the GRE. I work with high school, undergraduate and graduate students, online and in person in Pittsburgh, and I reply to messages quickly.

Elementary math is where the habits that matter later are formed, so I focus on making sure a child understands why a method works instead of memorizing steps, and I set the pace by the child rather than by a curriculum. In practice that means a lot of questions, drawing things out on paper, and asking the student to explain their thinking back to me or watching how they solve a problem, which is usually where a small misunderstanding turns up. My goal is that a child finishes each session a little more confident that they can work something out on their own.

I work with students at every level of the subject: introductory and intermediate microeconomics for undergrads, advanced microeconomics for PhD students, and managerial economics for MBA programs. Because I taught these courses repeatedly, I know where most students lose the thread: working out the effects of taxes and quotas, calculating income and substitution effects, solving Cournot, Bertrand, and Stackelberg models, setting up constrained optimization problems, and finding mixed strategy Nash equilibria and analyzing subgames. I usually work directly from your syllabus, problem sets, and past exams, so a session covers what your course will actually ask of you, and I also pay attention to the mathematics the problems require and help with that as well when it is needed.
