Hello! My name is Pragya, and I am a Computer Science student at Carnegie Mellon University. I have worked as a Software Engineering Intern at both Coinbase and Amazon, served as a Teaching Assistant for a data science course at the University of Washington, and completed over 200 hours of tutoring through a nonprofit organization. Through these experiences, I have worked with students from elementary school through college, helping them build confidence and succeed in challenging technical subjects.
My primary tutoring areas are computer science, programming, data structures and algorithms, machine learning, discrete mathematics, probability, and general mathematics. At Carnegie Mellon, I have completed rigorous coursework in systems programming, machine learning, linear algebra, probability, and theoretical computer science. My industry experience has allowed me to apply these concepts in real-world software engineering environments, giving me practical insight that I bring into every tutoring session.
My teaching philosophy is centered on understanding rather than memorization. Rather than simply providing answers, I work with students to develop problem-solving skills and intuition so they can approach new challenges independently. I adapt my teaching style to each student's goals, whether they are preparing for an exam, working through coursework, learning to code for the first time, or preparing for technical interviews.
