I am graduating this semester with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at the University of Pittsburgh, along with two minors in Architecture and Studio Arts, where I have developed ways to break down and visualize core mathematical concepts that directly support high school instruction, including algebra, functions, geometry, and introductory calculus. Through coursework in linear algebra, differential equations, and real analysis, I have strengthened my problem-solving skills and deepened my understanding of how to explain mathematical ideas clearly and logically. I aim to make math approachable by connecting abstract concepts to step-by-step reasoning and visualizations to further students' understanding.
I have extensive experience tutoring students in high school–level mathematics, including Algebra I and II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus. As a volunteer math tutor to high schoolers and undergraduates, I have focused on helping students improve both their understanding and performance, often raising grades by reinforcing foundational skills, breaking down complex problems into manageable steps, and prioritizing conceptual understanding rather than memorization. I strive to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing their problem-solving abilities.
Beyond tutoring, my background includes teaching and leadership roles that have strengthened my ability to communicate effectively and work with diverse groups of students. As an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant, I developed teaching skills in a formal environment and understand the expectations instructors have of students, allowing me to better support in-school success. As a swim instructor and coach, I taught skills progressively and adapted lessons to different learning styles. I am committed to helping high school students succeed academically while building confidence and independence in their mathematical thinking.
