I graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in bioengineering and a minor in chemistry. Prior to graduation, I spent several years volunteer tutoring one-on-one. I have tutored algebra and general chemistry at the high school and college levels. I am also a strong writer and can tutor in writing and English.
My focus is on helping students learn concepts. I like starting with sample work to diagnose what topics are causing the most trouble. Then I focus on those topics so that students can better approach problems or other assignments. Without the fundamentals, it is very difficult to learn. I also encourage independent practice to assess progress, and to change strategies if needed.
Everyone is different, and I can teach in a variety of ways. While I prefer a concept-focused approach, I can also provide guidance on sample problems or test-taking strategies. I've worked with a variety of students and always want to create individualized objectives.
