I'm Patrick, a professional writer from Pittsburgh with a passion for teaching, reading, and language. I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh with a major in philosophy and a German language minor. Since then, I've worked as a writer across all sorts of subjects: I've written on literature, education, history, fiction, self-help, and more, completing dozens of articles and a book. Much of my work has come with an education company I co-founded that tries to make philosophical ideas applicable to everyday life.
I've worked as a tutor for underrepresented students in Pittsburgh, serving both as a classroom assistant for summer programs and as a one-on-one tutor for students working to improve their reading and writing. In teaching, my philosophy is that students should be taught to connect their everyday voice with their writing. I find that students can often explain their ideas very easily out loud yet struggle to put those words on paper. Through writing, I hope to give students the confidence to write out whatever they can think. I want to offer this same confidence to students in reading as well: Students often have a sharp ear for interpretation when listening yet find it hard to do the same in writing. I want to help students draw out these skills.
I'm excited to work with any students looking for help with reading and writing. I offer fast responses and a flexible schedule. Contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson.
