Hello! My name is Stella; I'm an undergraduate at Carnegie Mellon University studying quantum and computational physics. I scored a 1600 on the SAT and took 19 AP classes during my time in high school, with a score of 5 on all but four exams. I've been tutoring for over five years within my school and through a variety of online platforms, working with students as young as six to those over 65. I'm currently a volunteer tutor with Pittsburgh's adult literacy program; by merit of affiliation, I've received a variety of professional-led training courses on tutoring techniques and their implementations.
Okay! Now that that's out of the way, let me introduce myself properly: Hi! I'm Stella, and I really love tutoring. When I was younger, school didn't come naturally to me—I understand what it feels like to struggle academically. I wouldn't be where I am today if it weren't for the professors who demonstrated nothing but patience and compassion as I bombarded them with questions and terrorized their office hours. I know it sometimes feels embarrassing to ask for help, but the tutors I've had in my life never made me feel that way, and I've taken all my lessons from them. I want my students to feel comfortable asking any question, even ones that seem 'stupid' (these don't exist, by the way). I'll never judge someone for where they are academically.
Logistically, I prefer to work one-on-one. I'm comfortable in a variety of subjects, but my strong suits are physics (one would hope), biology, chemistry, and mathematics; I also adore the humanities and have taught history, English writing and composition, conversational French, and philosophy. And because I spent hours cramming YouTube review videos during high school, now you don't have to do the same: I hold sessions for AP/SAT prep and pre-college advising/essay-writing. Please feel free to contact me and schedule a lesson! My rates are flexible, and so are my hours (which run late into the night—'tis the college life). I'm looking forward to meeting you. :]
