Hey, I’m Avnith! I’m currently a student at Carnegie Mellon University studying Computational Biology and Artificial Intelligence, with an extensive background in math and computer science. In school, I’ve taken courses in Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Machine Learning, and more. Additionally, I have significant accomplishments in high school math and CS olympiads, including achieving USACO Platinum, qualifying for AIME 4 times, and top finishes in ACSL and regional high school math and programming contests. Through my competitive programming background, I am proficient with Python, C++, Java programming languages as well as with algorithms, data structures, and problem solving. I also have professional development certificates from Coursera in “Building Modern Python Applications on AWS” and “ML with Python”.
I’ve been tutoring students of all ages for over 5 years across one-on-ones, small-groups, classrooms, and summer programs. I started by teaching elementary and middle-school math to students in small groups at Kumon Learning Center from 2020 to 2022. During this time, I also hosted workshops at an elementary school to teach students Python programming, and I coached these students to compete in the American Computer Science League (ACSL). Since 2023, I’ve taught students in a classroom setting at Fairfax Collegiate, a local summer program, in areas covering math, robotics, and filmography. In addition, I taught students algorithms and techniques at the USA Computing Olympiad (USACO) Silver level as a CS Instructor at the Alphastar Academy 2025 Summer and Winter Camps. Since 2025, I’ve also been offering private, one-on-one tutoring to ~10 total students in subjects including math, computer science, biology, and chemistry.
My approach to tutoring students focuses on asking questions that lead to discovery and drawing patterns between concepts and problems to help the student intuitively understand the topic. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions!
