My journey as an educator is built on a foundation of high-level academic achievement and decades of experience developing complex strategies. I am Shane Billings, and I approach AP Economics with the same rigorous, results-oriented philosophy I honed over two decades teaching AP Economics. My own educational background includes graduating with a degree in Economics and Industrial Management from Carnegie Mellon University. This robust academic foundation provides me with the deep subject-matter expertise necessary to guide high school students through the complexities of both Microeconomics and Macroeconomics. I believe that true mastery of AP-level material comes not just from memorizing concepts, but from the relentless, strategic application of those concepts under pressure.

My tutoring method for high school students is intentionally structured for success on the College Board exam. I operate on the philosophy that extensive, targeted practice with official AP sample questions and free-response problems is the most effective path to a top score. During our one-on-one sessions, I break down challenging economic models—from the intricacies of Aggregate Supply/Demand to the loanable funds market—and immediately reinforce understanding through demanding, exam-style practice. This hands-on, problem-solving approach directly reflects my extensive experience working with high school students. For over twenty years, I specialized in finding success in the academic realm by teaching students not just the content, but the exam strategies and time-management skills required to consistently score highly on both multiple-choice and free-response sections.
