For the past twenty-two years I have taught every academic level of American History, American Government, Citizenship Education and International Relations.

My time in the classroom as a certified teacher (Degrees in Citizenship Education, History and Political Science) is spent helping students to understand, appreciate, question, evaluate and comprehend the experiment that is our republic. For the past twenty-two years I have taught every academic level of American History, American Government, Citizenship Education and International Relations.

Preparation for the full USCIS interview / exam is a core tenant in the American Civics class that I am humbled to teach. I have guided countless individuals in building confidence and knowledge as they proudly prepare for naturalization via the U.S. citizenship test.

My hope for both my classroom students and those that I tutor, is that they value and are able to celebrate OUR shared American history. Having an understanding of the social contract that we have entered into better equips all of us in becoming highly functioning citizens.

History has always fascinated me. I was fortunate to study history, political science and citizenship education in college while playing football on the side. I have a soft-spot for students who cannot wait to tell me about their extracurricular activities be it band, drama club, athletics, artistic endeavors, or hunting and fishing excursions.

A wide array of students walk through my classroom door on a daily basis. Some of the students have a full schedule of AP and Honors classes. Others have various emotional and academic IEP accommodations. Special needs students have a seat at the table as well. All of the students share the same rights, responsibilities, and obligations to learn and grow to the best of their ability.

While I have the honor of teaching material that is "new" to most students (mainly in the Socratic Method) I am also continually seeking new knowledge (and more efficient ways of passing on that knowledge). If I can assist in the quest of helping someone to think constructively for themselves then it is a victory.

As a certified teacher with 20+ years of classroom experience I have been privileged to mentor and assist countless current and future history teachers master and pass their required History Praxis Exams, many on their first try. Whether this is your first attempt at the History Praxis or you find yourself discouraged because of previous endeavors at passing, together we will unlock your full confidence and potential. I passed the World / U.S. History Content Knowledge Praxis 5941, the Social Studies Praxis 5081 (now updated as Praxis 5581) and the Elementary Education Social Studies Subtest Praxis 5004 (often listed as Praxis 5904) with exemplary scores using the same strategies and methods that I am eager to share with you. The skills and tools required to heighten your proficiency for both the analytical and fact-based portions of these exams are utilized in my classroom on a daily basis and I am happy to guide anyone serious about seeking assistance.

For the past twenty-two years preparation for the full USCIS interview / exam has been a core tenant of the classroom instruction and assessment in the American Civics-Government class that I am humbled to teach. Outside of the brick-and-mortar setting I have assisted countless prospective citizens gain confidence in their English pronunciation, N-400 interview skills and comprehensive Civics clarity as they prepare for the USCIS interview / exam (citizenship test). My goal as a certified teacher (Citizenship Education Degree) is to help students understand, appreciate, question and evaluate the experiment that is our democratic-republic. Transformative Tutoring Experience

My son’s tutor has been absolutely amazing. From day one, he took the time to really understand my son—his personality, his learning style, and what motivates him. Marty is an amazing tutor! He is patient and understanding as well as willing to work through any questions. When working with Marty, you have to be vulnerable. He does not judge at all any questions I have, I asked him even if I felt like I should know it I still asked and he guided me through each question, making sure I understood. The connections I have built to topics in the 10 meetings we have had is incredible. He adapts how he tutors to what each person needs and learns the ways you study best. I was willing to put in the work, and Marty was willing to meet me and help. I did a lot of work outside of my meetings with Marty and would come to each lesson with questions from the “HW” I was given. He is such an enjoyable person to learn with I told everyone that would listen if I had a teacher like Marty when I was in school, I would be passing with flying colors. We got it done. I passed my praxis w a solid score of a 158. I couldn’t have gotten it done without Marty. When I first met with Marty in I want to say may (could be sooner) I had gotten 2 130s and over the last 5 months we have continuously worked and worked to get this praxis done. I couldn’t have gotten it done without Marty and I’m not just saying that. He implements a great study plan for you and will answer any question you got. There’s no reason to be afraid to ask him any questions because he’s happy to answer anything. He really helped me throughout this process and I’m not just saying this. I don’t know what else to say about Marty. The man has helped me tremendously. I went into the praxis behind on content and didn’t think I could do it. Marty has stool with me and has helped me cover all the praxis information in just a couple months. He’s always available and will figure out any way he can to talk to you. Before entering this time with Marty I was on edge. Talking to someone I didn’t know about a topic I should know but I struggle with. He sat down with me every week to help me prepare for my praxis. He was invested in me and I could clearly see it. He helped me in anyway he could in ways like making quizzes, providing readings , answering questions and making sure I fully understand what he just explained. Marty was excellent and I would recommend every one to chose him. He will get you prepared for the praxis. Thank you again Marty!

Another great lesson with Marty. We have a good system going on me asking questions and him answering it to the full extent. Describing little things that led up to this and even showing me stuff on the map. He’s looking out for me and it’s clear as day. Wondering about my study plan , making sure I’m comprehending all the information, asking questions, etc. another great session and we wrapping up the book we have been focused on and about to move on to something different. Whatever he got for me is going to be beneficial. I feel like I’ve learned more in our 3-4 meetings than I did the whole time using 240.
