20+ Year Teacher in High School Math and CS

I am a high school mathematics and computer science teacher with over 20 years teaching experience. I have taught thousands of high school students in all levels of high school mathematics, from geometry to calculus and beyond, including both AP Calculus and IB Mathematics courses. In addition I teach computer science courses in Python and Java, including AP Computer Science A. I teach because I care about my students and want them to succeed in academics and in life generally. Contributing to that success gives me a sense of fulfillment. I recognize that each student is a unique individual and I work to meet each student at his/her personal level of experience and understanding.

I graduated from the University of Virginia with a BS in Computer Science. After working in the software industry for a few years, I decided that I wanted to teach and earned my Master's of Arts in Teaching from the University of Pittsburgh. I've been in the classroom ever since. I'm certified to teach secondary mathematics and technology education.

In addition to my traditional classroom experience, I've tutored numerous students ranging in age from high school, to college, to adult learners. I've instructed these students in a variety of math courses at both the high school and college levels. My experience includes both in person and remote tutoring utilizing modern educational technology to create an effective learning environment.
