Hi, I'm Patrick. I’m a graduate of Dartmouth College with a Bachelors degree in Engineering Sciences as well as an MBA degree from Notre Dame. My career spans over 20 years in the technology and finance industries. I enjoy giving back to students and helping them gain a deeper understanding of math. I believe math skills open the door to tremendous opportunity in life and I seek to help my students achieve their potential.
I tutored for two years in a math learning center environment. Students ranged from K-12 and across all levels of the math spectrum including algebra, geometry, trigonometry and calculus. Following an initial assessment we designed customized learning plans and workbooks for each student. As an instructor I then worked one-on-one to help students gain a mastery of each lesson employing different tools and tactics.
What I find to be most effective when a student is struggling with a concept is to reframe it for them. Provide them with an alternative mathematical approach than they are accustomed to. Students often get hard-wired into solving problems a certain way. Whether it’s suitable for them or not, that’s just how they’ve learned it in school. Math provides so many alternate and elegant approaches to problem solving that once a student finds a better way the light bulb goes off.
My goal is to help students not just get by, but thrive in math. Feel free to reach out with questions or to schedule a session.
