My name is Kate and I live in the Pittsburgh area. I graduated magna cum laude from John Carroll University in 2023. My degree is in Middle Childhood Education with concentrations in English Language Arts and Social Studies. During college, I tutored multiple students with ages ranging from 5th-8th grade who were struggling with reading and writing skills. My methods are focused on creating a unique plan in collaboration with each student based on their strengths as well as their needs. Figuring out what intrinsically motivates each student is key to successful tutoring. After college, I taught English Language Arts for 7th and 8th graders in a traditional classroom environment. I pride myself on the tangible improvements made on students' literacy skills over the course of the school year. I then moved to Pittsburgh where I have recently accepted a long term substitute position for a middle school English Language Arts classroom. I look forward to meeting with your student and discussing how I can best serve them.
