From AP Statistics to statistical programming to the subtleties of measure theory, I am experienced in tutoring and teaching at all levels. Statistics is a wonderful field but many students are turned off because of poor initial instruction. My goal is to help all students understand how engaging statistics can be, particularly with all the exciting opportunities for data analysis in the modern job market.
I did my undergrad in math at MIT and received a PhD in statistics from Carnegie Mellon. Throughout the PhD program, I worked continually as a teaching assistant for both undergrad and graduate classes, instructing students one-on-one during office hours, teaching recitations, and teaching elective courses of my own design. While working in industry, I spent several years co-teaching the project capstone course in the master’s program at CMU, guiding teams of students to connect their classroom theory to real-world projects for clients.
Later, while working as executive director of the Master of Statistical Practice program at CMU, I redesigned and modernized several courses.
Whether you are a confident student who needs a bit of clarification on a challenging topic, or someone who feels lost and overwhelmed by statistics, I can craft my instruction to meet your needs.
