I'm currently in my second gap year now and am currently applying to medical school so can also offer some guidance on this pathway.
As for my teaching methods, I try to be adaptable to whatever learning techniques my students find useful. However, I will offer guidance for ways that may allow you to better understand something. I like to ask students questions about their understanding of a topic, then use that as a foundation to, first, create an overarching conceptual understanding, then work our way towards more specific knowledge so students learn to easily apply their knowledge to new questions.
