Hi there! My name is Carolyn and I am attending the University of Pittsburgh to attain my bachelor's in Marketing and minor in History. Afterward, I plan to pursue my MBA-J.D. degree. My favorite subject is English! But I am also well versed in a matter of other topics. I was the President of my high school's National Honor Society David Stofa Chapter, which meant I dedicated a lot of my time to tutoring students. I also independently led two research projects during my senior year in high school on recreating asthma inhalers through 3D printing for severe asthmatic pediatric patients at Children's National Medical Center. I was also previously a Laboratory Operation Specialist for P4 Diagnostix. I am currently a Brand Ambassador and Campus Operation Leader for my campus, such as Microsoft, CSCGO, and Pitt's IT department.
My area of expertise is also going over college applications and reviewing personal statements. I also help prepare students for college, internship, and job interviews. As well as crafting the perfect resume! My methodology for tutoring is meeting you where you are at, I approach with a mindset to not mold a student into what I want them to be in order to be the "perfect student" but show them how to enhance their natural skillset and utilize it to maximum efficiency. I create lesson plans that value flexibility and the individual's strengths, as well as targets to work on weaknesses as well. I am a visual learner myself so I use a lot of visual explaining and create diagrams, mnemonics, etc! I also like to incorporate what is happening in the real world to help explain lessons as understanding relevancy past the classroom helps enhances the learning experience. Being a current college student, I try to find common ground to help encourage motivation and find realistic goals to set together. I welcome an open communication style and encourage dialogue for constructive criticism on both ends!
