Hello! My name is Emma, and I am currently a senior at the University of Pittsburgh. I am studying Spanish and education, as I have always been passionate about languages and helping others learn. In high school, I participated in the National Honor Society, which presented me with the opportunity to tutor my peers in various subjects. Additionally, I have helped various peers with their Spanish or English assignments, whether that be through editing or educating them regarding unfamiliar grammar or vocabulary. This past spring, I was able to study abroad in Granada, Spain, which was also an incredible experience. Studying abroad, in a Spanish-speaking community, certainly improved my ability to speak and tutor in Spanish, as well.
As I have mentioned, I love tutoring because it provides me with an opportunity to practice my teaching skills, while also watching others succeed. I am a huge proponent of proficiency in language and bilingualism, so I am eager to spread that passion and knowledge to others! Hopefully, anyone seeking guidance with middle or high school level English and/or Spanish will reach out to me!
I am an excellent English tutor because I have a deep knowledge of grammatical functions. Additionally, I have an extensive vocabulary, which lends itself to tutoring students who are struggling with words' meanings. Beyond that, I am well-versed in popular books and/or poems assigned to middle and high schoolers. Given that knowledge, I can provide more context for assignments, outside of the classroom.
I am an outstanding Spanish tutor because I have been studying the language for ten years. I have practiced on a daily basis in an effort to improve my speaking, writing, and auditory skills. I am a Spanish major, so I continue to refresh my knowledge by taking high-level Spanish electives. I love the language and hope to teach it after graduating, so tutoring will help me just as much as it helps you.
