Hindi is a complex language which may seem intimidating in the beginning, but which, through my methodical and tactful teaching process, ends up revealing itself as a fascinating world.
Music is the unspoken language of the soul. Diving into the universe of Indian classical music (through khayal and bhajans) is undertaking a journey deep within yourself, to find your true self.
Holding a BA in Hindi language and literature (2008), I was very fortunate to perfect my language skills in India, where I did a Hindi specialization course (2009) and spent the next 10 years there.
I approach Hindi from a non-Indian perspective, making the learning process clear, easy and enjoyable for those of non-Indian origins who enroll in my classes. Every theoretical concept presented is well defined and is supported by the practical aspect of it. My course has been particularly helpful to the non-Indian origin spouses of Indians, or simply to those attracted by the Indian culture. You will learn the reading and writing of the devanagari script (the script of the Hindi language), important grammar concepts and their practical usage, themes-categorized vocabulary and regular conversations. The lessons are supported by resources and assignments.
Mine is a complex approach - theoretical, practical, but also cultural in order to provide the students with a realistic and authentic perspective towards Hindi language and Indian culture, in general. I equally emphasize on the spoken and written characteristics of the language, while methodically exposing the students to its major aspects: phonemic & phonological awareness, morphology, and syntax. I come up with diverse creative teaching methods, promoting meaningful learning, creative thinking and the active engagement of the students. I create situations for conversation and practice during lessons
